The Quran has described this relationship between men and women, which brings love, harmony, trust and compassion, in the most moving and eloquent terms: “And among His Signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that you may dwell in tranquillity with them, and He has put love and mercy between your [hearts] . . .” [Quran 30:21] This is the strongest of bonds, in which Allaah unites the two Muslim partners, who come together on the basis of love, understanding, co-operation and mutual advice, and ...
